Full time college student at Oregon State University. Just your average Public Health college student. Part time expert procrastinator. Sunshine addict. Paper cut-phobic. Always learning about life via diffusion...
I also don't drink coffee or soda and I'd like to run a full marathon one day. So I could get those awesome calf muscles that would look so sexy in heels.

So at the end of every term our boot camp instructor is super proud to have the whole class go on the “bread run”. It consists of us running from campus to downtown Corvallis to the Great Harvest Bakery, which is owned by a friend of his. And then we catch our breath and sample their bread. And then we run back to campus.
It’s a fun concept but REALLY?! Do people really want to eat bread when they’re sweaty and out of breath?! I didn’t really, we all just wanted WATER. Especially since it was in the 80’s today. But I did have some bread and it was pretty good bread. So I guess it was some type of sneaky marketing scheme to get the class to come back to buy bread. And then everyone ran kinda funny all the way back, I for one, was trying to take it slow so that the bread wouldn’t come back up…
So the lesson I learned today is that taking a break from running, by eating bread, doesn’t really make sense even though it was ‘fun’. :-) Oh and, thanks for the samples Great Harvest!

Bolder Boulder 2009 at Boulder, CO. This was my Memorial weekend! It was fun. Minus the rain :-)Photo
My new favorite toy. A finger rubbery/grippy thimble. Perfect for sorting out stacks and stacks of paper without fear of paper cuts. Yay!!!

Today was a BEAUTIFUL day!!! Campus was crowded with sun-lovers, photographers, frisbee players and of course, runners. I could not resist taking advantage of the weather and so I made a video asking random runners why they ran!!Video
Here’s a video I made during the Eugene Marathon! This is the Half and Full. I ran in the 5k the day before and I looked absolutely disgusting. This was such an amazing race cause I knew all the people wearing Strands jerseys! You can see them all at the front of the start line with their super reflective Puma gear haha. Going to races is so much fun. Really, it makes me want to run more!!Photo
I haven’t ran at all this week yet. As you can see, I just worked out for 50 mins. It’s called my bootcamp class. With weather like this, if I wasn’t in that conditioning class, I probably wouldn’t have exercised at all. I would be in bed hibernating. I actually don’t think I’ve ran since the Eugene marathon! And I wouldn’t have even counted that race as running because I put zero effort into it. You want to know why? Cause I had to go to the bathroom during the whole race. Really, REALLY bad and for some reason, it was the first race I’ve done that didn’t have Honey Buckets along the way!!! Can you believe that?! Anyways…
My log is on Strands.com (http://www.strands.com) it’s a free online training log, check it out!

I must have walked 100 miles this weekend, unintentionally and unwillingly. Does that make up for a whole week of not running at all?
One lesson I did learn this weekend was it is always, ALWAYS worth it to get a rental car when you go on vacation. Doesn’t matter how much you’ve studied the maps or if you are certain your hotel in the center of everything. GET A RENTAL. Or else you will end up walking from one end of San Diego to the other and get to the beach three hours later when it’s not even day time anymore, and then give up and take the wrong bus that takes you to the border of Mexico, and then have to spend $60 on a taxi ride back late at night. Oh, I just summed up my first day in San Diego :-) .
Walking around Coronado Beach was one of the few good parts about my first day. The island was lovely. Everyone there was tan, skinny, and owned a convertible BMW. It was the kind of beach that looked EXACTLY like their pictures online. (Like this:)
Joey and I stopped by a gelato shop and these two 8-year olds walked by with one of them complaining about how her dad took her credit card away. Excuse me?
The second day, we got up bright and early to pick up our rental from Avis. They were nice I liked them. I just didn’t like how they didn’t have pictures of the cars we could have chosen from. Because Joey and I both opted for the PT Cruiser, and both of us has something very, very in mind of what the car would look like. But it looked like this:

No offense to anyone who has one, but I’ve never seen anyone drive those but old retired people. At that point I wanted to just walk back to the hotel and then just walk to Seaworld from there. Which was only supposed to be a mile away from our hotel. Which it clearly WASN’T. So I guess I was glad I agreed to get in. But once we got that thing we became invincible and drove ALL over San Diego, north, east, south (not really) and west (to the beaches!!).
Seaworld was huge and we walked through everything on the map, and then some because we got lost. Wouldn’t you?!

Same with the San Diego Zoo. Actually, we just took the Zoo bus tour there cause I was so tired from the day before! But we eventually started to walk around the zoo and then got really lost. That place is like a maze!!! I DID get to see this guy there:

The worst type of evening walks are the ones when you are walking around a new city looking for a fabulous place to have dinner and then you start…starving. But that’s what we did on Friday night at La Jolla. That place is beautiful; I wish I wasn’t so hungry so that I could have enjoyed it more. But we ended up at the most fabulous of fabulous restaurants on top of the main street overlooking the beach, called Vigillucci’s or something. I have decided that when I get my own house by the beach, I am going to have candlelit dinners every night, OUTSIDE, on my balcony, under heat lamps. Cause that’s what it was like and I loved it.
GUESS WHAT I WORE the whole weekend as far as foot apparel?! 12.99 metallic gladiator sandals from Payless. Amazingly, they held together, and actually molded into the shape of my foot so that they actually became quite comfy. I’m wearing them right now haha. Like these, but silver.

I brought my Asics and shorts and a tank because I was planning to run EVERY MORNING but that didn’t happen. Does it ever happen? Do people really utilize their hotel gyms? Have you ever seen anyone in those gyms? WHY DO THEY EXIST?! If you do, please tell me how you do it. :-) Like I said, I did so much walking anyway I guess it must have made up for it :-)
Overall I had a very memorable trip, and I’m looking forward to boot camp tomorrow!!!
OH P.S. how could I forget? This was my first meal in San Diego. How could I not?!
